Attention, journalism students.  I have another extra credit project for you, as well as something that may very well fit into the next issue of the campus newspaper.

It seems that a friendly skirmish has started between our own math professor , Professor Minamimoto, and our Political Science professor, Professor Shu.  Also, our wonderful Engineering professor, Professor Rakshata, has chosen to get her students involved, as well.

You, as my journalism students, are going to report on exactly what is going on regarding this.  I think it's only fair to the campus to have an unbiased view as to what is going on regarding this, and you as journalists are to be fair and unbiased to all parties.

Kyou Okacha, I would like you to interview Professor Minamimoto regarding his exchanges with Professor Shu and this...  war that is going on.  Sora Brighton, please speak with Professor Shu.  I believe that I will interview Professor Rakshata myself, when the opportunity permits.  This will make a wonderful article for the newspaper.

Attention, students!

With the okay of the dean and the board, I am planning on launching two projects, effective immediately, that will involve all of you.

The first is involvement within a campus newsletter.  This is of particular interest to my journalism students, but any of you are welcome to participate as you see fit.  There are plans to publish a monthly newspaper about events and happenings around Evergrove University, and someone needs to write those articles.   For those journalism majors, this is an important first step towards a portfolio when you graduate, as well as those majoring or minoring in photography.   If you attend one of my classes, there's certainly the possibility of extra credit if you choose to participate, and if other professors are willing to work with me on this, there just may be something in it for other students, as well~.

The second idea is still in the pre-production stages, but I would like to see a campus television station.  Its primary purpose will be to broadcast campus events to those who may want to see them, but cannot always be there to see it in person.  This will include sporting events that take place here on the campus, as well as theatrical events, if I can work out a reasonable solution regarding location and logistics with our wonderful theater professor.   My students will also be offered extra credit for these opportunities, and the same offer to speak with other professors applies.

If you are interested, please feel free to contact me here to make your intent known.  You may also contact me via online messenger.

For any students who need to speak with me in person, my office is located within Palm Hall.  Typically, my office hours will be between 2 and 6pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  If you need to speak with me after those hours, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I will also be in Pine Hall from time to time when needed to assist with the filmmaking and production courses.  If you cannot reach me in person, my email address is listed on the syllabus.  As well, if you are able to catch me when I am at my computer, I can be reached by way of instant messenger.  My screen name is the same as my name, Diethard Reid

To any students of journalism or communication arts, whether you have taken a vested interest in these programs or are simply taking them to obtain a degree, I would like to insist that you offer me a bit of information about yourselves, so that I might know those that I am teaching.

Your first assignment, simple as it may be, will be to leave a comment to this entry.  Please state your name and class year, as well as which program you have chosen to enroll in.  Please provide, as well, a few short lines about why you have chosen to enter into your field of choice, and feel free to pose any questions to me, as well, if there is anything you might want to ask me.
